The Robert Wortman Training Tower

The Robert Wortman Training Tower is a facility located at the end of 5th St. in Somerville. Fire department personnel volunteered their time and trade skills to build the facility brick by brick over countless hours and years.

Finally, dedicated on October 8th 1989, this state certified training tower allows for Somerville and surrounding area fire departments to continually train in a wide array of scenarios. The facility includes a live fire burn room, a search and rescue room, an SCBA confidence course, and a roof simulator.

If your fire department or other emergency services are looking to rent the tower for use please reach out to Chief of Department, Ken T Bowden at FireChief@somervillenj.org or Deputy Chief Albert Bowden DeputyChief@somervillenj.org.
